Updates

SchemaStudio checks for updates automatically and notifies you when a new version is available. You stay in control of when to download and install — nothing updates without your action.

Automatic update checks

Each time SchemaStudio starts, it silently contacts the update server to check whether a newer version is available. The check runs in the background and never delays startup.

If a new version is available, a notification appears in the bottom-right corner of the workspace with:

  • The version number available
  • A short summary of what's new in the release
  • A Download & Install button (Windows) that downloads and installs the update automatically
  • A Download button (macOS) that opens the release page in your browser

The notification can be dismissed by clicking ×. SchemaStudio will not show it again for that version until the next startup.

Checking manually

To check for updates at any time, go to Help → Check for Updates… SchemaStudio immediately contacts the update server and shows one of two results:

  • Update available — the same notification appears with the release notes and download link.
  • Up to date — a brief confirmation showing the version you have installed.

Downloading and installing

Windows — silent install

Clicking Download & Install starts the update entirely in the background. SchemaStudio downloads the installer to a temporary folder, runs it silently with all open applications closed gracefully, then exits. The installer completes and SchemaStudio is ready to launch again — no browser, no manual file management required.

macOS

Clicking Download opens the release page in your browser. Download the .dmg, drag the updated app into Applications, and confirm when macOS asks to replace the existing version.

Your data is safe: project files (.ssproj) are not touched by the installer. Updates only replace the application itself.

Your license after an update

Your activation is retained across minor version updates (1.0.x, 1.x). You do not need to re-enter your license key. If SchemaStudio asks for your key after an update, it means the license store was affected by the install process — re-enter your key via Help → Enter License Key… to restore full access.

Update notifications offline

If your machine has no internet connection at startup, the update check is skipped silently. The next successful network connection at startup will trigger a fresh check.

Release notes

Full release notes for every version are available on the SchemaStudio page. Release notes are also shown inline in the update notification dialog.
